Kai ripped the headset off immediately. His breathing was uneven while the apartment room felt strangely quiet after the chaos inside Eternal Realm. He touched his cheek where the Crimson Alpha had injured him.

The wound was gone.

But the pain remained.

Kai slowly walked toward the bathroom mirror and froze. His eyes looked sharper than before. Even his posture seemed different, more balanced and steady.

“What is this game?” he whispered.

His phone exploded with notifications. News clips, forum posts, and social media videos filled every screen online.

Everyone was talking about the emergency logout and the sky cracking inside Eternal Realm.

Then Kai noticed something that made his expression darken.

Several players claimed monsters had spoken directly to them.

Exactly like the Crimson Alpha.

Kai sat quietly on his bed while the words repeated in his mind.

Found… you.

Why him?

Then suddenly his stomach growled loudly. Kai blinked in surprise. He felt unbelievably hungry. Ten minutes later, he had eaten enough food for three people while his mother stared at him in confusion.

“Kai… are you alright?” she asked carefully.

“I think so.”

“You just finished almost everything in the kitchen.”

Kai slowly lowered his chopsticks. His body felt like it needed energy constantly, as if something inside him was changing.

That night, Kai could not sleep properly. Every sound outside felt louder than normal. Around midnight, he finally gave up trying to rest and walked outside the apartment building.
Cold air touched his face while the empty streets stretched ahead quietly.

Kai started running.

At first slowly.

Then faster.

His eyes widened in shock. He was moving much faster than normal, but his breathing remained calm. No pain. No exhaustion.

Kai stopped near a small public park and stared silently at his hands.

Yesterday he struggled climbing stairs after work.

Now he felt stronger than ever.

A basketball suddenly rolled toward him across the pavement. Kai caught it automatically before tossing it back toward two teenagers nearby.

The boys stared in surprise.

“That throw was crazy.”

Kai frowned slightly. He had barely used strength.

Before he could think further, a loud scream echoed from a nearby street. Kai turned instantly and saw three men surrounding a young woman outside a convenience store.

His body moved before his thoughts finished forming.

Kai sprinted forward.

One man noticed him approaching and stepped aggressively toward him.

“Mind your own—”

Kai grabbed the man’s arm and pushed him away.

The criminal crashed hard into a parked motorcycle.

Everyone froze.

Including Kai.

The second man rushed toward him angrily, but Kai reacted instinctively. The world slowed around him again. He saw the punch clearly before it happened.

Kai stepped sideways and lightly pushed the attacker’s shoulder.

The man spun around and collapsed onto the ground.

The third criminal immediately ran away.

Silence returned to the street while the woman stared at Kai in shock.

“T-Thank you.”

Kai nodded awkwardly. “No problem.”

But inside, his thoughts were racing.

That strength was not normal.

After returning home, Kai sat silently in front of the neural headset again. Part of him wanted to destroy it forever.

Another part wanted answers more than anything.

Then the screen suddenly activated by itself.

A package icon appeared before him. Kai hesitated before logging back into Eternal Realm.

The forest looked completely different after the previous disaster. Destroyed trees covered the ground while players gathered nervously in groups.

Before Kai could inspect the ring further, Ren suddenly appeared beside him.

“You saw the news?” Ren asked immediately.

Kai nodded.

Ren lowered his voice. “My older brother said several governments contacted the developers after last night.”

Kai’s expression darkened. “That serious?”

“Apparently some players showed physical changes after logging out.”

Kai remained silent because he already knew it was true.

Then a giant system message appeared across the sky

The forest immediately darkened while cold wind spread between the trees.

Then distant howls echoed from every direction.

The first monsters slowly emerged from the darkness.
